Textiles Final Piece
I have chosen to create a wall hanging for my A2 Textiles project of 'Nostalgia'. In my sketchbook I have taken inspiration from both textile artists and fashion designers. My samples for my final piece incorporate both fashion and textile elements. My favourite sample so far is of my Mum's childhood, I have transferred images onto book paper, used molar technique and buttons as well as out folded fabric circles overlapping each other in the style of Valentino. The colour scheme is pink and neutrals, I wanted to make it feel girly and vintage in which I used lace and pink stripy paper.

Erdem
As I was looking on Pinterest for fashion designers I came across Erdem, I really love his SS13 collection. His collection uses a variety of patterns and colours with one of the dresses is a blue pastel colour with a bright orange pattern on top. I love how he has incorporated lace and flowers into his collections as it gives a vintage style. He has also put constrasting patterns together including floral and snakeskin which give the dresses a unique look and feel.
Fashion Magazines
Recently I have been collecting and reading fashion magazines including ones that target the mass market such as Vogue and Elle as well as more niche magazines including Love and Dazed and Confuesd. I first found the designer Valentino in Love magazine which showcased a black and white fashion shoot of some of his collections. I particularly liked both his SS12 and SS13 collections. His SS12 collection uses lots of lace and vintage patterned fabric whereas his SS13 colletion incorporates bolder colours such as red and the dresses are more detailed. I have used both of these collections as part of my A2 textiles project.
